Are You Ready For Your SEO Campaign?

Are You Ready For Your SEO Campaign

A lot of businesses are starting to wake up to the fact that a successful SEO campaign can greatly improve their online sales or sign up figures and that it is probably the most cost effective form of marketing you can find.

However many business and website owners still need to be educated on the role that they need to play in the SEO process. If you were thinking that you just need to pay an SEO Consultant, sit back and wait for the sales then sorry but it doesn’t quite work like that.

You Have A Part To Play Too

One of the most important things that you need to realise before you start your SEO campaign is that you will need to be active in it yourself, or at least someone in your company. If that sounds like too much work for you then SEO may not be the strategy for you. The SEO Consultant or agency that you hire will be making suggestions on how to improve the SEO performance of your site but the final decision and implementation of those suggestions will be up to you. For example they will present you with the keywords that they recommend you use for the campaign but the final decision will be yours.

The Difference Between Local & Online Competitors

If you are trying to analyse the performance of your website compared to your competitors then it is important to realise the difference between your competitors down the street compared to your online competition who may be operating in a completely different country. Online competitors are those who are aiming to attract the same online consumers through their website as you are and they will more than likely be using the same keyword anchor text as you are to attract them.

Have A Web Developer Close

Some of the SEO adjustments that need to be made to your website can be quite technical and complicated so it is a big advantage to keep in touch with the developer of your website as they will be able to implement them for you and 99% of web developers wont charge for this as it is seen as an extension of their hosting service. If you don’t have a developer then most SEO Consultants will implement them for you but be prepared for them to charge you extra for this as it is extra work for them.

Regular Updates Are Important

Your SEO professional will recommend that you regularly update your website with unique content to help its SEO performance so it is important that you keep your site fresh, adding a blog is a great way to do this. You should also request regular updates from your SEO Consultant or agency so you know exactly what work they are doing for your website and you should monitor the progress and success of the campaign through tools such as Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools. The more involved you are in your SEO campaign then the greater the chance there is of it being successful.
