Best SEO Practices

Best practice pinned on noticeboard

During the early days; that is, when Google search just began, results were displayed only based on organic matches. There were absolutely no maps, videos and images showing up in the search. But, now in addition to fighting against other textual content you need to even compete against multimedia – therefore, the completion is fierce.  Therefore, you need to do a good job when it comes to the SEO of your website.

Let’s take a look at a few of the best SEO practices:

Make sure to have a good title tag

Every webpage of your website needs to have title tags such as H2, H2, H3 and so on. Google and other search engines do give these a lot of weightage. If you do it right, your website has a much higher chance of ranking well on search engines – hence, take the time to learn to use them well. A simple tip to remember is that you should try to place your keywords in title tags; but, never overdo it as it would be considered as spamming.

Content is king – write for people not web crawlers

Why are people going to want to come and visit your website? Is it because they have nothing else to do or are they looking for help in some way? Maybe to get a question answered or buy something from your website.

In order for the search engine crawlers to understand what services you offer you’d need to have content – lots of it! When writing the content keep in mind the readers as you’d need to write for them and not search engines – In simple words, add keywords but don’t make the articles or pages look like a banner board.

Keywords – the most important aspect!

Keywords are really important and probably the most important part of any successful website. Before you even proceed and buy your domain name you’ve already got plans in mind and you need your website to revolve around a specific keyword or niche – isn’t that right?

The best way to rank well for your main keyword is to write an article based on it as your home page. Over time as your site matures and gets some good backlinks you would begin ranking well for that specific keyword as well.  No matter what your niche, you need to pick your keywords well.

Use Meta Tags

Even though Google doesn’t give as much importance to meta tags today as it used to in the past, it’s really important that you add them – because, other search engines could still be using them. Meta text is another important aspect that you need to improve. If you’ve got good Meta text on all your webpages, there’s a greater chance that people would click through to view your website.

Go Social

One of the best ways to get your brand name out to the masses is by going social! There are plenty of social networks where your customers hang out – find out which ones to target and this would surely increase your profits.
