How SEO Can Save Your Business

If your business is struggling to attract new customers and make you any money then you need a genuine marketing solution. If you have a website that is under performing or if you don’t even have a website then you are missing an amazing opportunity to build your brand awareness and most importantly increase your sales. Search engine optimisation is not a magic potion that will make your business succeed overnight but it will provide the platform for success, if you are good at what you do then SEO will provide you with the opportunity to convert visitors to your website into sales.

That’s great, but how? I hear you ask…

SEO is proactive

The best thing about search engine optimisation is that it does exactly what its name suggests, optimises search engines which are Google, Bing, Yahoo and so on. Google is the major player when it comes to search engines. An SEO consultant or agency will identify what people are searching for that is relevant to your business and optimise your website so that it will show up in the top of the search results for that term, that’s it in a nutshell. The reason SEO is proactive is that it generates traffic to your website from people who are already searching for the product or service that you provide.

Traditional Media Is Passive

Just as SEO is proactive, traditional media such as newspaper advertising, leaflet distribution and even TV and radio advertising are passive. This is because they are approaching an audience that does not already have your product or service in mind and trying to convince them that they need or want what you are offering. It is so much harder trying to convert a passive audience and this is reflected in the return on investment (ROI) figures for traditional marketing strategies.

SEO Is A Long Term Strategy

SEO is a not a one off marketing ploy like making brochures are having an advert featured somewhere, it is interactive and an on-going strategy. Any good SEO consultant will work closely with your business and constantly analyse the results of the campaign and make adjustments to it accordingly. For example if you are receiving a lot of traffic through your website but not converting that traffic into sales then an SEO consultant will work out why customers are leaving your site without making a purchase and address it. The changes and adjustments that will be made to your website to improve its performance in the search engines will bring it lasting strength and so it is much more than a one off strategy.

It’s Affordable

Another great reason that SEO could be the saviour of your business is that it is more affordable than other forms of marketing and gives you a better return on your investment. There aren’t many small to medium sized business that can afford to get an advert on the TV or radio and so they need a more affordable marketing strategy, SEO is the perfect solution. SEO consultants usually charge a monthly fee which will get you a whole month’s work for as long as you want your campaign to last as opposed to a much larger fee for a one off advert in a newspaper.
