Facebook is by far one of the largest social networking sites on the web and people spend hours together on it. No matter what you’re promoting, you’re going to find people who are interested in your services and products. Therefore, using Facebook for business promotion isn’t going to be a futile attempt. You could set up a page specifically for your business or even a particular product. When you’ve got a lot of likes and fans, if you set up a cool campaign, there’s a huge possibility that it could go viral and hence spread your brand name. This could even get you some new fans.

Facebook does have a paid advertising program wherein your ads are shown to people interested in your niche. But, why pay for something that you could do for free?

All you need to do is setup a new fan page and customize the timeline of your new page to suit your needs.  You’d find the cover picture, profile picture, an about section and much more. Fill it all up, make it attractive and at the same time related to your business.

Now that you’ve created your business page on Facebook, the next thing that you need to do is promote it. But, how do you do this? Well, it’s really easy as all you need to do in the beginning is promote it on your business website, you existing clientele would like it and share it with they’re friends and this way you’d get the ball rolling.

What to post on your page?

One of the biggest mistakes that most business make is self-promotion and self-promotion! That’s all they do.  If at all you want your followers and fans to return to your page and not stop following it, you’re going to have to give them something more.

Rather than posting about your new products and services all the time, you should try to help your clients and followers in any way possible. If at all you come across an article that’s related to your niche that you find useful, share it on your page. You may even get a new follower – the author of the article! Who knows they may even promote your business by writing another article or linking to it from their existing one.

Conduct contests on Facebook

Another great way to gain a lot of fans and increase your following is by conducting a contest. Everyone loves competitions and when there are prizes offered the turnout would be even greater.

So, if you’re business has recently launched a product, conduct a sort of survey based on it. You could then use these answers to further improve your products and make entirely new ones as well. Once you’ve got the answers you should conduct a lucky dip wherein a few lucky winners are gifted with a free product or maybe a coupon to buy it at a discounted rate.
