How to Use Facebook for Business – A Beginner’s Guide

Some people only use Facebook for their personal endeavors, whether it is catching up with old friends or looking at photos or videos. But Facebook is not solely made for individuals to waste time checking their news feed. It is also a great place for businesses.
Some companies want to join the social media site but have no idea where to begin or how to use it. The following tips will help make it easier to accomplish.

1. Create a fan page.

If you’re a company, you need to create a fan page. Yes, this is different than a personal page. Fan pages have more benefits for businesses, and they can allow anyone to see your page, not just your followers.
Your fan page needs to have a link to your company’s website as well as information about your company. And if you’re going to have a Facebook page, you need to make sure that you are active on it. Don’t just create a page to create a page. Facebook is only beneficial to your company if you make it a commitment.

2. Start getting people to follow you.

After you have created your page, you need to get people to like your page and become a follower. Reach out to all your current customers and ask them to become a fan. You should also reach out to all of your employees too. Once people start to like your page, others will see that they liked it, and these people may check you out too.

3. Generate content.

Once you have a few fans, you can start generating content to increase your fan base and get your current fans to engage with you. Offering coupons or discounts to your Facebook fans is a great way to generate some mass appeal. Plus, giving out coupons can also help generate sales.
Holding contests is another great way to increase your Facebook following. People love the opportunity to try and win something, and they will be more inclined to tell their friends and family about your page if they have the possibility of winning something by doing so.

4. Post pictures and videos.

Sometimes people may overlook your posts, but if you post a funny picture or a great video, they will be more inclined to check it out. If it’s something that really interests them, they may just recommend it to others or post a link on their own page. When they do this, they will be helping you generate more traffic to your page.

5. Stay active.

This cannot be stressed enough. If you are going to have a Facebook presence, you need to authorize someone to be in complete control of your page. Start conversations with your followers, answer their questions, like their posts—do whatever you have to do to show them that you are there and that you care about what they have to say. This simple task will go a long way with your customers.
Using these four tips will help you create a better Facebook page for your business and help you use it to your full advantage. Social media is the new way to attract your customers, so jump on the Facebook bandwagon—you may just “like” it.
