The Benefits of a Facebook Fan Page for Your Business

The Benefits of a Facebook Fan Page for Your Business

So, you’re wondering what the point of having a Facebook profile for yourself and a separate one for your business is. Surely you can do the same things all on one page? This article looks at the benefits of a Facebook fan page and why you can’t do everything from one page.

A fan page or a public page is purely a public profile. This means that whether you are a member of Facebook or not you can access these pages – making the advertising visible by everyone. It gives a business the chance to advertise what they are about, what services they offer and the products that are available for you to purchase.

Facebook has two different types of profile as its terms and conditions state that a person is only allowed one personal profile at any one time and that this profile must show only the persons full name. It has been known for Facebook to close down accounts due to people not using their correct name or for promoting a business on a personal profile.

This is where a Facebook fan page comes in; there are so many benefits for your business by setting up a fan page rather than a personal profile. If you set up a personal profile you have to invite friends to join which means you are pretty limited in the people you can ask; you could probably only ask your own personal friends who are sure to accept but then you would have to rely on other people seeing this in order to gain more ‘friends’ on your page. A fan page on the other hand is public meaning that people don’t even have to log into Facebook to be able to see it. Anyone can access these pages so they don’t have to be your ‘friend’ as in a personal profile. It also gives people the option to sign up for news from your business meaning that any updates on your page automatically appear in their homepage. Facebook is one of the highest ranking sites on the internet meaning that if you have a fan page it is also likely to rank highly on any search engine.

There is a limit to the number of friends you can have on a personal profile on Facebook. This limit is 5000. Although this is quite a high number of personal friends to have, as far as a business goes this is not all that many. A fan page on the other hand allows you to have as many fans as you like meaning that your business can continually grow and as you get bigger and bigger there will be no barriers in your way.
