It is crystal clear that the social media like Twitter and Facebook are flooded with people who want to   share their experiences in life. The type of information you share with your friends on social media is most likely to come back and haunt you. This is because it is very personal.  The criminal gangs can take advantage of the information you avail publicly to harm you. Below are some good ideas on how to go about the idea of security on social media.

 

Make sure you do not post your full name and address

Do not post some private information like when you are going to be away from home. If you do that, you will attract burgars and other criminals to vandalize your proper on your absence. Equally do not post the names of your children on the social media.

Posting Photos on Social Media

Do not reveal too much information about yourself or your loved ones. Make it a point of cropping any reveling information on the photo. This information can be the school where your child attends school etc. If you do expose such information it will be easier for criminals such as abductors to identify your kid and do harm on him/her.

Always Read the fine print on the social media

This is an era whereby information is power. We do safeguard some information like details about our bank accounts. Giving private information on the social media is equivalent to giving your bank details to the public. Take your time and read the fine prints. This might not be so good for you. Make sure that you agree to give the information with which you are comfortable.

There are many crooks that are working day and night to make sure that they collect as much private information as they can. It is good to be on the social media because it enables you to keep in touch with many old friends as well as make new ones. But always remember to take care of your privacy matters at all times.

  3. Eliminate your name from Google search
  4. Set privacy setting for your photos. Remember it is not every one who is allowed to see your photos.

  6. Lastly censor what your friends share on your wall. Remember your boss is watching you.
