YouTube has certainly made a big impression on the internet and it cannot be ignored as a source for online marketing. There are over 800 million people all over the world who visit YouTube, every month. The potential to expose your service or product is huge and you should get on the band wagon as soon as possible.
Even if your local country doesn’t have the internet at home they will still be able to view YouTube with the sophisticated phones on the market these days.
1. Make your own YouTube channel
If you have the means and hardware to create your own videos then creating a YouTube channel for your company or a client is the step to take. Before you create an account, decide on the categories for the channel. It’s easier if you have one specific service or product, because then you will know on what you should concentrate when creating a video.
Creating a YouTube account is easy and you should have it set up in a few minutes. There are a few things you should consider when creating a new account so that your YouTube channel will stand out from the rest.
Creating a personal background
Log into your account and click on your username in the top right hand corner. Click edit channel and then select the channel design tab. Once there find “Advanced Design Customization” and upload your background for your channel.
Interact
While logged in, go to various channels and start commenting on their videos. People are more inclined to visit your account when you make the effort to visit their YouTube channel.
Social Media
Share your videos on various social media accounts. Posting links on your twitter account with a catchy title will entice people to click on the link. Creating a facebook page and sharing your content with your followers will also drive traffic to your channel.
Create Compelling Content
Create content which is compelling. It’s really that simple because if you don’t have anything interesting to share with the viewers they will lose interest and close the YouTube page. Try to keep your content fresh and relevant, and try not to use too much duplicate content.
Posting a video
When posting a video create a title with the keyword relevant to the video. Give a thorough description as well as the title and the description will appear in search results on Google. Last time I checked, the video limit was 10 megabytes and you were restricted to certain file types.
2. Adwords for YouTube.
The other option is to use the masses of videos as your billboard for your Adwords campaign.
Google has an advertising campaign called “Videotargeting” which uses your Adwords settings to display your ad on YouTube. It’s quite an easy process but for the sake of being thorough we’ll help you through it.
You will land on giving you the option to set placements. This refers to the campaign choice when using the videotargeting service. Just click “Select Placements”, and it will bring you to the following page.
On this page you will be able to pick the location of your ads. This ranges from a small annotation popping up during the video, a video inserted at the end of the watched video, a text banner on the YouTube profile page or promote your video on the YouTube pages as a “Promoted Video”. This is the equivalent of a PPC Google ad being displayed in the top horizontal bar in search results.
After selecting your ad placement you will be directed to a page with categories. Here you will be able to select which specific categories you want the ad to be placed in.
For example:
If you search SEO and sort by relevance you will be presented with three tabs “Categories, Channels and Videos”. In the results of these categories you will be able to select the category, channel or video you want to place your ad in by clicking the “Add” button. Note the information on cost per impression (CPM), as it will give you the specifics of the costs involved when adding it to your campaign.
When you are finished you can select done.
Finally, you will find yourself on the summary page. Here you have the choice of creating a campaign name and setting the budget and bid limit.
Select “Export to Adwords” and you will be able to create your campaign. In this window you can set your budget per day. So, if you have five thousand dollars to spend per month, you can divide it by the amount of days in that month (one hundred and sixty six dollars per day) and enter it here.
In the bid section you can enter how much you are willing to pay per impression. Google Adwords will automatically place your ad according to the bid limit. The higher the bid the higher ranked or visited pages your ad will appear on.
As always, I have a video on the subject at hand.
